The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland, an ADAPT and Trinity College Dublin project, is currently being featured in a public exhibition outside the Eavan Boland Library as part of activities highlighting Ireland’s EU Presidency.
A flagship research project led by Trinity College Dublin and the ADAPT Centre, the Virtual Record Treasury is supported by the Irish Government through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under Project Ireland 2040.
The project is digitally reconstructing seven centuries of Irish historical records destroyed in the 1922 Four Courts fire. Using advanced digital technologies, the Virtual Record Treasury is helping to restore Ireland’s lost national archive, providing new access to invaluable historical records and demonstrating the potential of digital research to preserve cultural heritage for future generations.
