ADAPT UCD & FORSEE Researchers Present First-Year Findings at IAMCR Conference in Galway

10 July 2026

Recently, ADAPT UCD and FORSEE researchers Aphra Kerr and Eugenia Siapera presented four papers at the International Association for Media and Communications Research (IAMCR) annual academic conference in Galway, sharing findings from the first year of the Horizon Europe-funded FORSEE (Forging Successful AI Applications for European Economy and Society) project

The presentations highlighted key findings from the project, focussing on the gap between formal expectations and policy frameworks for AI and the realities experienced by SMEs and the public.

FORSEE brings together leading experts from universities, research institutions, and think tanks across Europe to examine both the societal benefits and risks of AI. The project investigates existing policy documents, public discourse, and successful AI applications to identify diverse understandings of what constitutes success, including social and public value considerations that extend beyond purely technological or economic measures. The project is co-ordinated by Dr. Liz Farries and the Centre for Digital Policy at UCD and includes TCD Computer Science as a partner.

The project aims to strengthen European AI capabilities while supporting the development of effective EU regulatory frameworks and approaches to AI risk monitoring.
