The ADAPT SFI Research Centre has successfully had three research projects shortlisted as finalists for this year’s Technology Ireland Industry Award 2019 for ‘Outstanding Academic Achievement of the Year’.  This year a highly competitive field battled it out for only five short-listed places.

The three ADAPT projects shortlisted are DeepReal: Deep Learning for 3D Object Placement in Videos; AI Technology Extraction; and Semantic Search.   Each project uses novel approaches developed from ADAPT research and forwards the state-of-the-art in the field.

The finalists will present to an independent panel of judges comprised of leaders and founders of Irish software and digital companies over the next few weeks and the winners will be announced at the annual awards event on November 22nd in the Mansion House, Dublin.  ADAPT will be up against Waterford Institute of Technology and Dundalk Institute of Technology for the award.

The Technology Ireland Industry Awards are in their 27th year and they reflect a growing technology sector in Ireland.  This year, over 80 technology companies and organisations from across Ireland entered the competition.

The award categories include: Digital Technology Company of the Year; Emerging Company of the Year; Outstanding Achievement International Growth; Technology Innovation of the Year; Digital Technology Services Project of the Year; #WomenInTech Company Initiative of the Year; Excellence in Talent Development; and Outstanding Academic Achievement of the Year.
