Posted: 11/11/19

A new course launched in 2019 has been shortlisted in the Best New Course category in GradIreland’s Higher Education Awards 2019.  The MA in Data Protection and Privacy Law is jointly hosted by the School of Computing and the School of Law and Governance at DCU and leverages the world leading data governance research with the ADAPT Centre.

The importance of the role of Data Protection Officers has increased since the instigation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  The introduction of GDPR changed the way data is collected, stored and processed with almost all businesses affected.  The new MA course in Data Protection and Privacy Law was designed to equip graduates with interdisciplinary training in data protection and privacy in order to address this rapidly expanding industry.

GradIreland is a graduate career website run in partnership between the Association of Higher Education Career Services (AHECS) and Group GTI, the world’s largest graduate careers publishing company. The winner of the award will be decided by a panel comprised of experts in their field, drawn from industry, education and specialists in the area. The winner will be announced at a special event in Dublin on the 22nd November 2019.
