ADAPT Researcher Appointed Visiting Professor at National Institute of Informatics

Joeran Beel, Assistant Professor in Intelligent Systems at Trinity College Dublin, has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at Japan’s National Institute of Informatics. ADAPT and Professor Beel have worked closely with the NII in Tokyo, specifically with the Digital Content and Media Division and with the division’s director, Professor Akiko Aizawa.

The National Informatics Institute is a research institute with branches across numerous Japanese universities and a focus on applied research in information based fields including networking, software, and content. Professor Beel will visit the NII once or twice annually to take part in research regarding recommender systems, machine learning, natural language processing, and related fields. His term as Visiting Professor begins on 1 April 2018, and will continue throughout the next four years.
