Posted: 09/07/18

The ADAPT Centre in the School of Computer Science and Statistics, Trinity College Dublin and the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo, have signed an MoU for a long-term academic partnership. This partnership will see the two institutions engage in joint research, as well as exchange staff and students.

The partnership will see the launch of a Ph.D. internship programme to NII, and a collaborative project directed by Professor Joeran Beel and Professor Akiko Azawa relating to recommender systems and machine learning in the context of information extraction from academic documents, math retrieval, and virtual citation proximity.

The six-month internship programme, the Earrach Sakura Award, will be open to Ph.D. students from the School of Computer Science and Statistics. Students will be able to apply twice a year for fully funded internships at NII lasting up to six months.

ADAPT are delighted to be a part of this monumental international academic alliance, and contribute to the cutting-edge research efforts between the three institutions.
