26 FebCompetitively won R&D funding from the EU enables ADAPT to pursue international collaborations to realise cutting-edge scientific research and develop innovative technologies to tackle societal challenges.
Since its inception in 2015, ADAPT has been awarded over €14 million in EU R&D grants from a variety of schemes spanning all 3 pillars of Horizon 2020, the Connecting Europe Facility, as well as national funders throughout Europe. The Centre has utilised these funds to create groundbreaking digital technologies in the fields of language tech, digital humanities, security technologies, connected health, standards, crisis response, ethical innovations and more.
Through these programmes our groundbreaking research and technologies realise scientific, social and commercial impact and provide a valuable avenue for collaboration and innovation.
ADAPT researchers lead on numerous international research projects and collaborate with others on many more. To collaborate with us please contact Horizon2020@adaptcentre.ie.
In 2017, ADAPT continued to maintain a strong presence in ICT while simultaneously pursuing research opportunities in related fields. For the first time, the Centre received funding for two out of six projects from the Connecting Europe Facility, and made further inroads into the Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions, receiving funding under the Innovative Training Network (ITN) category.
In 2016, ADAPT won funding for seven projects, six of which were financed by the EU. ADAPT also made significant inroads into the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) with the Centre collaborating with two other Trinity based research institutions, AMBER and CONNECT, to win a large-scale COFUND to finance a brand-new, post-doctoral programme, EDGE.
Two of the six projects funded in 2015 were coordinated by ADAPT. These projects are significant in showing the capacity ADAPT has to take a leadership role in ICT research in the EU, facilitate new collaborations and realise new research projects. The Centre also succeeded in expanding research to ICT related fields such as Security, Energy and Digital Humanities as seen in two projects financed under the Societal Challenges category of Horizon 2020.
