Description

Our project, ‘The Moderation Game’ explores human and AI bias in Content Moderation. It has been commissioned for the BIAS exhibition at Science Gallery Dublin in the Autumn.  We are looking for a research assistant who can collaborate with us on the first stage of our project, which lays the foundation for an engaging public exhibition in Science Gallery Dublin to open in September, 2021.

Research Assistant role
This entire role involves approximately two weeks of paid work, but spread across 1 month.

It can be done remotely and we are flexible in terms of working hours.

The research assistant will scrape tweets from across previously identified accounts provided by the project team. They will work with the academic and artist co-leads to scrape, analyse and sort the tweets. Lastly, the research assistant will then take written content (250 created tweets) to place into an AI system to analyse the sentiment of the tweets. We will be using out of the box AI.

Essential skills
Knowledge and previous experience of scraping, tagging and analysing twitter data.
Knowledge of sentiment analysis.

Desirable
Interest in informal forms of education and public engagement activities
Interest in online content moderation and bias

Timeline

We would like to appoint a research assistant by mid-July, or as soon as possible.

Data gathering and labelling should take place in July. This data will then be used to develop and test the exhibit in August. The project needs to be completed by the end of August for installation in early September.
