Post Specification

The ADAPT Centre, the centre for digital media technology, is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct research in the areas of computer vision and video processing. The candidate will be working on an Enterprise Ireland funded project to commercialise research that addresses the issue of size and fit in fashion e-commerce. It is anticipated that this project will result in a start-up company that will spin out from the university.

As a computer vision postdoc, the successful candidate will work together with us to build the core of Syze’s product, the scan system, to be fast, robust and accurate. The Research Fellow will focus on image/video segmentation, training networks to predict body shape and pose, and optimising these models for mobile devices. The Research Fellow will also have a strong input on design and deployment.

This is a unique opportunity to join a research group which has pioneered video and audio technologies now used everyday in movie production and by companies such as YouTube and Google, whilst also working in an early-stage startup which is solving one of the most pressing issues in online shopping. The Research Fellow will use the latest deep learning techniques, extending or proposing advanced deep learning architectures for video processing and computer vision.
