The ADAPT Centre, the centre for digital content technology, hosted by the School of Computer Science & Statistics is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant. The successful candidate will work on a Text-to-Speech Synthesis (TTS) project for the duration of 6 months under the supervision of Dr. João Cabral. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of a speech synthesis technological solution for a specific market that incorporates the novel research on TTS and machine learning. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with industry and it is a unique opportunity to be involved in the production of an innovative voice interaction system. The successful candidate will be involved in designing and developing an interface and web service for speech synthesis. The successful candidate will also contribute to the design of the architecture of the TTS system and develop the required interfaces for the interconnection of the system components. Applicants should have an interest in speech and language technologies and experience in this area would be an advantage. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the initial stage of commercial application of this technology.
