ADAPT PhD student, Piyush Arora, has been selected as one of ten student delegates to represent SIGIR at the 50 Years of the ACM Turing Award Celebration in June 2017. The ACM Turing Award is the most prestigious technical award in the field of computing and this year will take place in San Francisco, California.
The ACM Turing Awards started as a tribute to Alan Turing. It is often referred to as the ‘Nobel Prize of computing’ and attracts pioneering researchers and computer scientists from across the globe working in different sectors of computing. The event will recognise achievements in computing and will honour the Turing Laureates, providing opportunities to hear from many of them.
Piyush Arora is researching for a PhD at Dublin City University and is supervised by Professors Jennifer Foster and Gareth Jones.
